heck even in the early 1990s you could still buy (heavily subsidized) gasoline for <90 cents.

you are so correct..the "long-term used vehicles" we used to pick up for those companies who only leased long-term (one year or more), magically became "pre-owned lease vehicles" overnight..

I do love those old relics. Cars, trucks, tractors, all of them. And yes it was nice when we had distinctive brands of gas and oil that would compete and you really did see a difference in a brand.

And those old cars had more powerful engines, and got better gas mileage than many of today's. And they cost a lot less to buy and maintain. Isn't progress wonderful?

You have to hand it to the guy. He or his family came here and asked for everything to be given to them for free like they do today.

it is politically incorrect to say USED cars--the correct term is PRE-OWNED. Come on people, get it right !!! At least it will be right until Nov 2, 2010 and on that day I have just ONE THING listed on my calendar (politically speaking): TAKE OUT THE TRASH.

Here in Las Vegas one of the closed car dealerships has reopened to sell USED CARS but not just Joe Blow used cars - Classic Cars. They have a lot of those with the flared fins from the bell-bottom age, about 11 Ford Model Ts , and just about anything else you might want except for a Tucker.

RENEGADEGAS Missouri "Oh goody!! Another story from Globeandmail.com. One of the most greenie weenie organizations of them all. Any one who reads this crap needs a serious head adjustment. The slant is so bad with them the editors mothers name is Ileen."
It's biased all right. It's a Conservative newspaper (that's the Canadian political party equivalent to your Republican mouthpiece).
